The game guide is just a little better than useless, no info about game mechanics, proffessions, rvr combat, ect. These books are very good looking and give a lot of lore and such, but very little info about the game itself.
Absolutely no directions on how to arrive at some of these locations other than a very unhelpful red arrow pointing to the location in some maps.As for the Atlas.yeah, it lists each location but does not give good strategies and again the horrible use of red arrows to "help" point you in the way you should go.All in all, if you are interested in the maps and some help with finding lore location then you will find some use from this, but I would recommend that you save your money and just do a few searches online for better and more accurate information posted by those that are playing the game now. I bought both of these products in anticipation that they would list quest locations, lore unlocks, maps of instances, etc. instead I received some half hearted "story" describing each character class to show the skills they have which was not orated very well. The books showed some locations of lairs and lore locations, it was done by showing you the same map you can see in game with a super tiny number placed on the map.
I'm happy with my purchase. It is a great addition for a deep game that does not have much information. This is a great pickup for those getting familiar with the game. For gamers that understand the MMO the atlas helps a lot with Public Quest locations and what to do in scenarios.
For Khaine's Embrace it says that you should capture the flag closest to your starting area. Both books are full color and look great. Then you need find your way to the other flag by going through or around the cave. Just explore in game (to fill your map) and you will have the same resources you will get from this book. Why does there need to be a "Life as an Elf" section for ALL 4 Elf classes. This is easily the worst game guide ever created. I realize that the authors didn't want to list a bunch of stats because MMORPGs change over time. The class strategies are vague at best and nonexistent at worst.
It tries but fails miserably. Oh yeah, and the jokes are pretty funny too.All in all, this guide (and set) are a complete waste of money. Could you be any more obvious. More actually because you'll have saved some money in the process. The "mood" of the books fits the Warhammer universe very well. Strategy for a tank would be to make sure you get close and keep the enemy close. Stating the obvious is NOT strategy. On the good side, the art is great. However, the guide offers nothing in the way of strategy.Every class description is basically the same with a few variations.
This is repeated TWICE, once for order and again for destruction. The strategy guide is really just an 8 page book repeated 20 times. The Atlas is somewhat useful as a map but once again, no strategy. This same philosphy is repeated throughout the entire book. Are you kidding me.
It's the kind of guide I will just pick up and read instead of looking up "out-dated" information.Overall I would say this book + the atlas are a good buy. There is some decent information in here. Lots of information about the different maps and public quest.
Thankfully, with this guide they have taken a different approach. There is a lot of information about each class. Everyone knows that these guides typically stink because the game changes so fast.
There is a sections that tell you which map to move on to and what level. They are better then the typical guide. Instead of being a book of spell listings, gear, and stats, it is a book about characters, background, strategy for each character, and map information. In the book they state that Mythic wanted the guide to feel like part of the game, not a book of numbers.
I must say it really does feel this way.
